This Mini ABC Picture Book is a great way to put together a simple service project that makes a big impact towards helping children who might not have access to books, a chance to learn the alphabet. 

To make this ABC book - Instructions and supplies needed:

Supplies needed for 1 book: 
  •  8 5x8 “mini” page protectors 
  • 14 sheets of paper with each letter (You will have to make a document with a Capital letter like "A" and lower case, like "a" for all the alphabet letters. Format the document in landscape (not portrait) with two letters per page). 
  • Paper slicer for cutting full sheets of 8x11 paper 
  • Yarn & scissors 
  • Magazine pages with a picture from each letter of the alphabet 
  •  Glue sticks 
  • 1 foot of yarn. 
  •  1 8 x 11 colored pages of either cardstock or foam sheets 
  • Envelopes labeled A-Z for labeling cut out magazine pictures 
  • 26 pictures cut out from magazine pages. Find pictures that look applicable to a children’s book with pictures that start with each letter of the alphabet (For example, for the letter “A”, you could use pictures with an apple, aardvark, angel, or airplane or for the letter “P”, you could use pictures with a pitcher, pineapple, pink, or popcorn. Don’t use images that indicate a verb or adjective and especially take care to use pictures that are simple and relatable to a child. Pictures must fit under the large letter on the page and look neat and tidy. 
  •  14 printed ABC pages (can be computer paper but cardstock paper is best). 
Instructions:
  • Cut pages in half with paper slicer. 
  • Print ABC pages
  • Cut foam sheet or cardstock paper in half so you have two 5.5 x 8 pages for the cover and back cover 
  • Cut the printed alphabet computer or cardstock paper in half for the body of the book/alphabet pages 
  • Cut out Magazine pictures and place in an envelope labeled for each letter of the alphabet 
  • With a glue stick, neatly glue the magazine pictures that match the letter of the alphabet on the half pages. 
  • Cover Page  = Glue Serving With Smiles logo and title on the front page, showing. 
  •  Back Page  = Glue Serving with Smiles collage picture on the back page. 
  •  Pages 4-16. Fill in ABC sheets from A - Z. 
  • Tie the book binding together with yarn by threading through going up through one hole, down the next hole, and rotating back and forth four times, ending with a double bow/knot.
